April Showers, Indoor Fun: Keeping Pets Active on Rainy Days

Spring brings much-needed warmth—but also its share of rainy days. While some pets don’t mind the drizzle, many get restless when stuck indoors. Here’s how to keep them happy and healthy even when the weather doesn't cooperate:

1. Play Smart, Not Just Hard:
Tug-of-war, fetch with soft toys, or hallway “zoomies” keep dogs moving inside. For cats, laser pointers, feather wands, and cardboard forts work wonders.

2. Mental Games Matter:
Puzzle feeders, hide-and-seek treats, or teaching new tricks stimulate your pet’s brain. Mental activity is just as important as physical play.

3. Enforce Structure:
Stick to regular walk and meal times, even if walks are shorter. We can help by handling mid-day visits during bad weather.

4. Don’t Skip Exercise Entirely:
A quick walk in light rain (with a towel ready at home) can burn off energy and prevent boredom. Pet-safe raincoats or paw protection help sensitive pets.

5. Post-Rain Cleanup:
Always wipe paws after outdoor time to remove mud, allergens, and chemicals. We include this in all rainy-day walks.

Rainy days are no excuse for inactivity. With a little planning—and help when needed—your pet can stay fit and happy no matter the forecast.
